What is New In Amputee Prosthetics | Reno Carson City Sparks NV

Today is a wonderful article I found when doing some research on what is new in amputee prosthetics.  Many of you know we at Ultra Prosthetics and Orthotics are always keeping up on the latest technology but the challenge can be insurance companies don’t.

We fight for you to be able to receive the latest and best amputee prosthesis for your needs.  Whether you are a runner, dancer, or just want to get back to what I call “Your new normal”

Our Amputee support group

Don’t forget every month we meet to help each other with every day issues.  We share our challenges, our successes, our lives.  We are friends that become family of sorts.  We support and help one another.  At Ultra Prosthetics and Orthotics, owner and founder Dan Haney believes that helping one another is why we are all here.  If we can see past our own problems and help someone else with theirs then ours becomes less and less of an obstacle.

Can you imagine the changes that are to come with artificial limbs for amputees?  It doesn’t matter if you are a below knee amputee, need an above knee prosthetic or have an prosthetic that is an arm or even a prosthesis hand or finger.  You can have a prosthetic made in Reno, Carson City or Sparks NV areas that is custom designed and fitted for you.

This article was written a couple years ago and advancement have been made since but it was one of the pioneers in robotic legs that was not sitting around wishing someone would come up with a better artificial prosthesis.  He did something about it.

His latest invention was a fully computerized ankle-foot system called the BiOM, which imitated a flesh-and-blood foot, propelling the user forward with each step. It bore no resemblance to any other prosthesis on the market.

When our founder started making prosthetic legs they were actually making them with wood…yeah that is how long he has been doing this and how much experience Ultra Prosthetics has.  He even told the Famous dancer “Peg Leg Pete” He would love to make a leg for him, but Pete just looked at him and said with a smile, “I know you are the best but this is how I make my living”
